Rick Perry, governor of Texas and GOP presidential hopeful, has sparked great controversy and public outrage with his new campaign message, ‘Strong’. In it, he uses the words ‘gays’ and ‘something wrong in this country’ in the same sentence; he argues for discrimination against Christians; and claims to be the man best suited to end ‘Obama’s war on religion’. Many consider his words hate speech, which, although veiled, is full of vitriol for the gay community and liberalism.
To round things off, and in line with the popular outcry against Perry’s message – and hate speech in general – let us present a few of the best responses to Perry’s reprehensible ‘Strong’, reminding everyone that bigotry cannot be allowed to go unchallenged – and that bigots exist for one reason: to be made fun of!
Warning: strong language!
