The Pale Blue Dot photograph. A famous picture taken from Voyager 1. An image that has forever changed our understanding of the world.
It was taken at the request of Carl Sagan, cosmologist and astrophysicist, who had a gut feeling about what such an image would do to human consciousness. Thank goodness for his insistence. Our position in the universe has been deeply redefined.
Inspired by the picture, Sagan eventually wrote a book, which he titled, Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space.
