This time last year The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was released.
It was the first part of a trilogy based on J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit, or There And Back Again, directed by none other than LOTR’s Peter Jackson.
The film featured the song Misty Mountains, a Dwarf song, which the unexpected party of Dwarves – who crashed Bilbo Baggins’s home – sang on the eve of their expedition.
The other day I stumbled upon a cover version of Misty Mountains by Malukah, a musician from Mexico.
Her rendition is outstanding…
And here’s the original version, from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey…
PS – For Tolkien aficionados, here are the lyrics of the song, as they first appeared in the book…
PS 2 – A few days ago the second part of the trilogy, The Desolation of Smaug, was released. I hope it has more gems like these to offer.
