If you don’t take into account what happened, sticking to the same tune even after the verdict was not in your favor:
a) You lose the election for a second time.
b) You’re as deaf, dumb and fanatical as you say they are – just another ideology hound chasing after shadows while the game has shifted and the world has passed you by.
My not so humble suggestion is change, starting with ourselves. Change our tune, tack, opinion, direction. Change strategies and talking points, and our approach to the problem, or hand over the initiative to those we so desperately want to keep out of power.
It’s not rocket science. It’s tactics.
And having an open mind – it’s about that, too; about how willing we are to process facts (something ‘they’ never do, or so we think). In reality, our mind is as narrow and obstinate as theirs, to each our own. We have a tremendous capacity for marching to the sound of a drum, all in the name of whatever cause tickles our standard.
As for processing reality, we’re famously and proudly on the side of hard facts and objectivity, for lack of a better term, while they’re clearly the crazy ideologues with a penchant for falsehoods, misinformation, lying and distortion, and yet…
And yet they seem to process some facts very well. They can read a fucking room and hit where it makes a difference, shifting the world with every blow, and that has to count for something. And if you don’t think so, you deserve to lose to them, and will lose again, and again, until you get how it works and change tune, tack and tactics.
So, in the aftermath of this election, and kinda pissed off (by kinda, I mean a lot), I’m looking for those who are busy raising meaningful points and starting meaningful conversations that will help me and those around me raise our game.
Newsweek, for example.
How about you?
