IMPOSSIBLE TO DO: Finish a Joan Didion book in a few days. No matter how determined I am to get through the text it always gets me — a few pages in and I put the book aside and think about what I’ve read for hours, maybe days. Like fine medicine, it compels its own dosage, impossible to rush.
