The Nissan Outdoor Games is a concept bringing together the world’s top athletes in extreme sports such as off-piste skiing, off-piste snowboarding, mountaineering, kayaking, mountain biking, paragliding, speed-flying, and BASE-jumping. The event takes place every year in some place of natural beauty and challenging surroundings.
The point of the games is to assemble teams to perform a selected number of the above sports and hooking them up with teams of professional filmmakers and photographers to create short films and slideshows. Each film must not be longer than five or six minutes long, but other than that there is total creative freedom.
Teams submit their films and still photos to a committee for a substantial monetary award, but most importantly, for the glory of having done something that hasn’t been done before, and for shooting it in a creative way.
The film featured below was created in the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc 2010 Games by Team Golgoht of Finland. It won the “Prove It Award” for best sports sequence.
